Journey into Hope

Written by Cafe 1040 Staff

For the past four years now, Cafe 1040’s staff has paused their usual work routines for a week of prayer and fasting. Join us to gain insight into what we are discerning from the Father, and unite with us in prayerful anticipation for the days ahead. This year’s theme was “Journey into Hope”, and we are reading Joshua 1-4.

Joshua starts with the announcement from the Lord, “Moses, my servant is dead. Now you and all the people prepare to cross over the Jordan to the land I am giving the Israelites. I have given you every place where the sole of your foot treads, just as I promised Moses… No one will be able to stand against you as long as you live. I will be with you, just as I was with Moses. I will not leave you or abandon you.”

The Israelites have spent the past 40 years in the wilderness. The hope of a promised land was long awaited for the Israelites. The Israelites who were about to enter this new season had only known the season of the wilderness where, God, the Father, provided their basic needs of shoes, clothes, and food. Now, He is promising so much more.

I am in the midst of a change in season as well. 2023 was hard on me spiritually and emotionally for various reasons, the general depravity of the world seemed to weigh heavy on me. Yet, I can confidently say that the Lord has proved all that I have needed. As I step into a season with potential abundance, I struggle to believe the truth the Lord said.

I look at the scriptures and I see the great provision of the Lord when the Iseralites crossed the Jordan River in Joshua 3-4 and the famous crumbling of the city walls of Jericho in Joshua 6. I know our God is a Lord that never changes. His power and promises He made in these times, He makes for us.

May we praise His name for the sustenance of Manna in our seasons of Wilderness and for the abundant blessings of the Promised Land. Whichever season you happen to be in right now, know He is a God of all seasons who can handle our biggest crises and our smallest concerns. May we walk in the light that our God has already fought and won the battles we face through Christ’s death and resurrection!

Join Cafe 1040 in our “Journey of Hope” to see what God is doing through us and through the nations of unreached people groups. We have 19 students going to three locations in the coming weeks and we cannot be more excited to hear what the Lord will do through these young adults!

Please take a moment to pray for these students and our staff who will welcome them overseas.

  • Pray as they prepare to say goodbye to friends and family and enter a new world.

  • Pray the Spirit transforms their hearts and minds this summer.

  • Pray the Lord uses our students to transform the life of someone with little to no access to the gospel.
