OUR ROLE IN THE MISSIONS WORLD
Cafe 1040 exists as an answer to several hard questions concerning Christian missions throughout the world. Over 3 billion people have little to no access to the story of Jesus and the next generation of missionaries passionately desires to go and tell them.
But there are common obstacles that keep them from serving – a GAP IN THE PROCESS between their desire to go and being sent. When you look at a mountain range from the distance, crossing from one ridge to another doesn’t seem that difficult; the gap doesn’t seem very large.
The Gap
When you stand at the edge of the gap you want to cross, your perspective changes, and you realize how far it is to the other side. How are you going to cross? What will it take to get to the other side? Who will help you?
It is a giant leap from sitting in a church pew to walking through the doors of a long-term sending agency, ready and willing to move your life to the other side of the world.
This monumental gap is what motivated us to start Cafe 1040.
three-Month missions mentorship
Our primary strategy to bridge this gap is our Three-Month Missions Mentorship. This mentorship provides the experience needed to answer the question, “Is God calling me to a life of missions?”
Most students participate in our programs because they want to learn what it is like to be a long-term missionary. An astounding 94% of our program graduates felt more prepared to take next steps after our program. Of recent graduates, 78% returned saying YES to long-term work among the unreached.

We know there may be other steps to closing this gap. We know there are people who can make the leap in one jump. We know there are people who need a few steps to confidently cross.
We are committed to listening, engaging, and innovating so we can best mobilize the church to cross this gap.

What would it take for you to confidently move to Saudi Arabia as a missionary? What about Northern Iraq? What do you need to discern God’s call? How many steps do you need to confidently and faithfully walk in obedience?
Why Does It Matter?
Why does it even matter? Why are we spending millions of dollars to bridge this gap? Why not just stay on this side of the mountain? There are plenty of opportunities here.
There are over 3 billion people on the other side who have little to no access to the story of Jesus. That is 42% of the world’s population. That’s a statistic we’ve given our lives to change. We won’t stop here. We will continue building, creating, innovating and working until all have heard.
