JOB DESCRIPTION OVERVIEW

Cafe 1040 exists to mentor young people on the mission field, and we can’t do that without a website to communicate our programs. As a web designer/developer, you’ll work with the marketing team to design, build, and develop our website. You will also consult on growth projects such as ad campaigns or content plans and the website’s role in those projects. Finally, you’ll also intake tasks from various departments as they need things changed on the website.

REQUIREMENTS 

Critical Qualities

  • Mature Christian faith and agreement with Cafe 1040’s statement of faith & Christian Community Policy

  • A passionate follower of Jesus Christ with a proven devotion to the habits necessary to maintain a daily relationship with him

  • Reflect personal and public integrity in line with Biblical principles

  • Possess a longing for the fulfillment of the Great Commission

  • Self-initiative and ability to work independently

  • Action-oriented with an eye for detail and creativity

  • Ability to develop a project plan and see it through to completion

  • A love of good web design and user experience!

Skills and Experience

  • History of designing clean, modern pages in tools like Wix (or similar builders)

  • Understand layout, spacing, typography, and visual hierarchy

  • Optimize pages for conversion (donations, signups, engagement)

  • Build mobile-first and responsive layouts

  • Improve navigation and user flows across the site

  • An eye for website design

  • Understands web user experience and how to optimize a website for it

  • Experience and familiarity with tools such as:

    • Wix

    • Squarespace

    • Wordpress

    • Shopify

  • Edit and format content for web readability

  • Write basic copy (headlines, CTAs, page structure)

  • Knowledge of digital marketing, CSS, or copywriting is preferred

SPECIFIC JOB DUTIES, TASKS, AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Own the overall health, structure, and performance of the website

  • Maintain consistency in design, layout, and user experience across all pages

  • Design, build, and edit website pages

  • Improve upon website design, structure, content, and conversion

  • Intake and accomplish tasks from other departments related to the website

  • Consult on campaigns that involve the website, such as Google Ad Campaigns

  • Take content from the  other members of the marketing team and implement it effectively on the website

  • Manage website backend, performance, and CMS

  • Support and uphold the policies, values, and statement of faith of Cafe 1040

  • Maintain sustainable funding levels for role through Cafe 1040 support-raising model

  • Actively take the opportunities to mobilize those people in the scope of your influence toward involvement and investment in the mission and vision of Cafe 1040

This is a support-based position. Nothing in this job description restricts Cafe 1040’s right to assign or reassign duties and responsibilities to this job at any time.  Responsibilities occasionally may require an adjusted work schedule, and evening/weekend hours in order to meet deadlines.
