JOB DESCRIPTION OVERVIEW

We are seeking an experienced server admin/engineer who can provide secure and highly resilient data and mail access for our staff, who face a high-level of intrusion and monitoring threats. We have moved from the cloud to private, self-hosted servers to maintain our data security.  We are looking for an expert who dreams in VM hypervisor and whose favorite movie is “Inception.”  Linux, Unix, Open Directory, Active Directory, Apple Mac Server, and Back up & Recovery are your best friends.  If your friends call you “five nines,” you’re the perfect fit.

You will bring clear vision and practices to the IT department to ensure continued operational success.  You will create security policies in coordination with other security personnel, present them to new and current staff members, and ensure compliance across the company.  When needed, you will also contribute to IT or security-related projects in order to further ministry objectives.

 SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Demonstrated knowledge concerning the configuration and maintenance of Apple servers and virtual machines
  • Knowledgeable about a variety of Apple products and systems with the ability to configure and troubleshoot both hardware and software at a high levelCompetence with non-Apple equipment
  • Competence with non-Apple equipment
  • Proficiency with helpdesk ticketing systems
  • Ability to coordinate effort across multiple teams

 SPECIFIC JOB DUTIES, TASKS, AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Maintain and upgrade server-related hardware and software to achieve stable and predictable virtual environment for all staff. This includes:
    • Administer our Mac OS X communication server and our Linux and Windows servers, making sure they are working correctly and are properly backed up
    • Maintain our email mailing lists, keeping them updated and working correctly
    • Upgrade server operating systems and update software to keep current with Apple software releases
  • Utilize help-desk ticketing system and provide help-desk support to our staff for server issues
  • Purchase and setup new server equipment
  • Maintain accurate documentation:
    • Record processes, keep inventory for technology, report budget and expenses for hardware and software purchases
    • Write knowledge-base articles to keep track of procedures
  • Collaborate with the head of security to stay well-informed of IT security issues relevant to our company as a whole and to our overseas staff in our base countries
  • Support and uphold the policies, values, and statement of faith of Cafe 1040
  • Maintain sustainable funding levels for role through Cafe 1040 support-raising model
  • Actively take opportunities to mobilize people toward involvement and investment in the mission and vision of Cafe 1040
