JOB DESCRIPTION OVERVIEW

Cafe 1040 is a growing missions ministry with many young leaders, families and staff living and working in difficult places. The primary job of our Member Care Leads is to engage and invest in this community to help them live a life that is full, whole, and healthy. The Member Care Leads should be a married couple who are able to translate their years of cross-cultural experience and breadth of pastoral skills to the individuals, families, and teams in our staff community.

REQUIREMENTS

CRITICAL QUALITIES:

  • Mature orthodox Christian faith and agreement with statement of faith
  • At least 7 consecutive years in a cross-cultural experience, preferably in a limited-access environment
  • A passionate follower of Jesus Christ with a proven devotion to the habits necessary to maintain a daily relationship with him and a longing for the fulfillment of the Great Commission
  • Reflect personal and public integrity in line with Biblical principles
  • Strong, proven aptitude for initiating Care in cross-cultural teams
  • Demonstrable emotional, spiritual, and mental health
  • Exceptional and experienced pastoral gifting
  • Talent in dealing with a variety of interpersonal relationships of varying ages, backgrounds, and life stages
  • High level of professionalism and confidentiality
  • Deep understanding of best practices and current innovations in Member Care

 SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Can communicate with all kinds and ages of people, confronting, encouraging, and exhorting when necessary
  • A tendency toward listening with corresponding strength in spoken and written communication skills
  • Has experience in training others—organizing and delivering content in various formats (seminars, retreats, workshops, etc.)
  • Experience consulting with leaders for organizational decision-making
  • Experience in technical aspects of Member Care (e.g. mediation and debriefing)
  • Ability to plan and prioritize your own work and help develop others
  • A robust theology of suffering, risk, and growth/maturity
  • A go-to person for wisdom in their community with sound judgment and keen discernment; Knows how to use Scriptures wisely
  • Calm under pressure and patient with processes
  • A heart that wants to connect with people to be present and, where possible, help, while simultaneously living with healthy interpersonal boundaries

This is a support-based position. Nothing in this job description restricts Cafe 1040’s right to assign or reassign duties and responsibilities to this job at any time.  Responsibilities occasionally may require an adjusted work schedule, and evening/weekend hours in order to meet deadlines.
